Medium carbon ferromanganese (MC Fe-Mn) is produced using the electrosilicothermic method, using a tilting graphite electrode electric arc furnace for refining. The raw materials primarily consist of manganese ore, manganese-silicon alloy, and lime. The smelting process includes furnace replenishment, arc striking, charging, melting, refining, and tapping. First, lime is spread on the furnace bottom, the arc is struck with manganese-silicon alloy, and the remaining mixed materials are added. Once the charge is completely melted, the refining phase begins. By stirring the melt pool and taking regular samples, the silicon content of the alloy is controlled within the range of 1.5%-2.0%. Finally, the iron is tapped.
